Calling All Ku-ring-gai And Davidson Graffiti Busters

Graffiti on the wall

Roll up your sleeves for a day by volunteering for Australia’s largest graffiti clean-up operation.

That’s the message from Member for Ku-ring-gai Alister Henskens SC and Member for Davidson Jonathan O’Dea, who want vandals’ tags wiped out on Graffiti Removal Day on Sunday, 30 October.

“There’s no better way of condemning graffiti and showing your pride in the Ku-ring-gai and Davidson electorates than by joining this inspiring day of community action,” said Mr Henskens.

“Graffiti is ugly, often offensive and can make people feel unsafe.  We need to get rid of it quickly to deny vandals any satisfaction and we can achieve this in the Ku-ring-gai and Davidson electorates on Graffiti Removal Day,” Mr O’Dea said.

To volunteer, complete the online registration form at www.graffitiremovalday.org.au.

All volunteer graffiti-busters will be provided with training, graffiti removal equipment and protective gear on the day.

Last year, an army of more than 2,000 volunteers removed 21,000m² of graffiti from over 450 sites across NSW, saving government and private property owners an estimated $1.4 million.

“Volunteers ranged from Girl Guides to octogenarians, reflecting that graffiti is a problem that impacts all of us in the community,” said Mr O’Dea.
