Celebrating National Carers Week 2023

National Carers Week

The NSW Liberal and National Coalition recognises and celebrates the invaluable contributions of more than 850,000 carers across the state as we mark National Carers Week 2023.

The theme, Millions of Reasons to Care, highlights the 2.65 million unpaid carers across our nation and reflects their immeasurable commitment and selfless support for their loved ones.

Shadow Minister for Families and Communities Natasha Maclaren-Jones said National Carers Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge the vital support that carers provide and to thank them for their contributions to our community.

“The theme for National Carers Week is ‘Millions of Reasons to Care’ and is a testament to the endless hours of support NSW carers provide,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

“These generous individuals don’t ask for thanks or recognition, yet their remarkable contributions are deserving of celebration.”

State Member for Wahroonga Alister Henskens said "We have many incredible carers in our local community. National Carers Week is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the vital work that carers do for family members and friends in Wahroonga, particularly unpaid care and support to people with disability, mental health condition, chronic illness, drug and alcohol dependency or who are ageing."

“Caring for a family member or friend takes time, dedication and patience, and National Carers Week is an opportunity to celebrate the vital work carers do in Wahroonga,” said Mr Henskens.

In 2021-22, the NSW Liberal and National Government committed $4.9 million to support carers as part of the NSW Carers Strategy 2020-2030.

Support is available through the Carer Gateway or call 1800 422 737.

National Carers Week 2023 will take place from Sunday 15 to Saturday 21 October 2023.
