More than $1.1 million in funding is now available for innovative projects that will help young people realise their full potential and benefit the wider community.

Alister Henskens SC MP today announced applications for the Youth Opportunities Program are now open. The Program funds organisations to deliver youth-led and youth-driven community projects.

“The NSW Government is determined to engage our young people and help them achieve their full potential,” Mr Henskens said.

“The Youth Opportunities Program supports grassroots projects that will make a real and positive difference to the lives of many young people in Ku-ring-gai.

“If you have a good idea or project, don’t miss this opportunity. Apply for funding today,” Mr Henskens said.

Since 2012, Youth Opportunities has provided more than $6.8 million in funding to over 120 projects across NSW involving more than 31,500 young people.

“It doesn’t matter whether you live in Bondi or Broken Hill, young people can contribute to their communities and make a difference. Helping them realise their full potential will benefit everyone,” Minister responsible for youth John Ajaka said.

Community organisations and local councils can apply for grants of up to $50,000 for new projects that support young people’s participation, engagement and inclusion in the community.

The NSW Government will conduct a series of workshops across NSW to answer questions from potential applicants about the program guidelines and the application process.

The online application process opens today Monday 23 May 2016 and closes at 5:00pm on Monday 27 June 2016. Successful applications will be announced later in 2016.
