More than 100 students from Wahroonga Preparatory School, Hilltop Road Public School, Knox Grammar School and St Bernard’s Catholic School recently came together to learn from each other as part of the Kids Teaching Kids program.

Students were tasked with finding solutions to a range of environmental issues, including climate change, water conservation, waste and pollution. They then presented their ideas to their fellow students and members of the local community to show how they can protect the natural environment.

Education Minister, Rob Stokes, and Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens, attended the event to watch and learn from students’ presentations.

“It’s terrific to see students working together to learn from each other and build a better future for our state and our nation,” Mr Henskens said.

“I thank all students who presented their bright ideas and insights today.

 “Seeing our young people take action to create a cleaner, greener, more sustainable future is truly inspiring. I congratulate everyone who made this event a wonderful success.”

Kids Teaching Kids is a nationwide peer teaching program that focuses student learning through investigating local environmental protection opportunities, and encouraging sustainability and environmental stewardship among students and the wider community.
