Local schools will receive upgrades with funding from this year’s NSW Government Budget.

The construction of 8 new classrooms will start within weeks at Killara Public School and, with funding from this year’s budget, Waitara Public School will be substantially expanded with new permanent teaching spaces and facility upgrades while Ku-ring-gai High School will get a new hall.

These projects are a part of the NSW Government’s record commitment to education across the state, which will see a record $4.2 billion invested into new and existing school projects over the next four years, including $2.2 billion worth of new projects commencing in the next two years.

Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens, welcomed the funding for the projects to meet the needs of local students.

“These upgrades will help provide the school facilities our community deserves with the growing enrolments in our area,” Mr Henskens said.

“I am delighted that the NSW Government is delivering these much-needed resources for the education of our children.”

Education Minister Rob Stokes said NSW public schools are expected to enrol an additional 164,000 students by 2031, and these school projects will provide improved and expanded learning environments for the growing student population.

"These projects will ensure students and staff have the resources they need to succeed in the 21st century,” Mr Stokes said.

“The NSW Government is working hard to provide high-quality education facilities for students and their communities now and into the future.”

In addition to the imminent construction at Killara Public, early planning and consultation will begin in the coming months on the scope of works for the other new school projects. Final funding for the projects at Waitara Public and Ku-ring-gai High will be confirmed after the tender process for works has been completed.
