West Pymble Public School Principal, Bronwyn Wilson, has been recognised at this year’s NSW Women of the Year Awards breakfast ceremony at the ICC Sydney, on the eve of International Women’s Day.

Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens SC MP, said he attended the event with Ms Wilson to celebrate her achievements and the inspiring efforts of other trailblazing women across NSW.

“We are blessed to have so many women, like Bronwyn Wilson, who are leaders in education in our area. Bronwyn has deservedly been recognised for the profound and positive impact she has had on our community,” Mr Henskens said.

“The Ku-ring-gai community is a better place because of Bronwyn and I was proud to see her represent us in Sydney at the state-wide awards ceremony.”

Bronwyn Wilson has been teaching for over 40 years and has been the Principal at West Pymble Public for the past 15 years. She was chosen as Ku-ring-gai’s 2019 Local Woman of the Year for consistently going above and beyond to enhance the learning opportunities for students and for her strong commitment to motivating her teaching staff to become leaders, to keep pace with current research and to constantly update their knowledge about how children learn.

She is known for her wealth of ideas for making West Pymble Public an exciting, vibrant school, with a strong focus on student wellbeing and social awareness.

“Bronwyn leads a true community school where parents and staff work as a team to provide a caring and progressive environment,” Mr Henskens said.

“She strives to make a difference in the lives of each and every child that passes through the school.”

Minister for Women Tanya Davies said there were an unprecedented number of nominations from across NSW for the 2019 state-wide awards program and more than 9,000 public votes received.

“The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government are working hard to progress gender equity for women across the State and we are so pleased the momentum of the Awards has grown year on year,” Mrs Davies said.

“The Awards are an important opportunity to acknowledge women who are using their skills and passion to positively shape our society and inspire future generations and I would like to thank all of the nominees, finalists and winners for their contribution”
