Member for Ku-ring-gai Alister Henskens SC MP today encouraged local sporting clubs to apply for the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program when applications open next week, to get more locals involved in sport and recreation activities.

Mr Henskens said the Program aims to increase regular and on-going participation in sport and active recreation.

“The Local Sport Grant Program provides funding for sports clubs in Ku-ring-gai and across NSW,” said Mr Henskens.

“We all know that sport is incredibly important for health and wellbeing, as well as bringing people in the community together.”

“Ku-ring-gai has a great sporting tradition and many fine sporting clubs, but often their ongoing operation depends on the goodwill of their members and supporters.

“Whether it be funding towards training programs to secure more volunteer coaches or helping with that much-needed change room upgrade, these Government grants are designed to encourage more people to keep active.”

There are four project types within the Program, these being:

  1. Sport Club Development;
  2. Community Sport Events;
  3. Sport Access; and
  4. Facility Development and Capital Equipment.

Applications open on 26 November 2015 and close 11 February 2016.
