More working families in Ku-ring-gai will have access to flexible before and after school care for their children, following the announcement that Waitara Public School has been successful in their application for the NSW Government’s Before and After School Care Fund.

Waitara Public School has been awarded funding to expand its out of school hours care program, creating up to 750 new before and after school sessions and 150 new places for students.

State Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens SC MP, praised the school for applying for a grant under the Before and After School Care Fund, a $20 million NSW Government initiative designed to create more places in out of school hours care programs across NSW.

“This funding is great news for busy families who need the extra flexibility before and after school care provides,” Mr Henskens said.

Minister for Early Childhood Education, Sarah Mitchell, said when travelling across NSW meeting families and services, she is often reminded of just how important flexible childcare options are.

“The $20 million Before and After School Care Fund is one way the Liberals & Nationals Government continues to help families access the childcare support they need,” Mrs Mitchell said.

Applications are currently open for Before and After School Care grants. Schools, P&C groups, community groups and not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to apply.
