NorthConnex Nears Completion with the First End-to-End Drive-Through

NCX Drive-Thru June 2020

Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens SC was joined by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, NSW Premier, NSW Transport Minister and local Federal and State MPs on the first end-to-end drive-through of Australia’s longest road tunnel, NorthConnex.

The $3 billion project on Sydney’s upper north shore has seen the State and Federal Governments working in conjunction with the private sector to deliver congestion-busting infrastructure.

Mr Henskens said, “It’s great to see the NSW and Federal Governments building for a better future with less travel time and less local road congestion.”

“The NorthConnex will take thousands of trucks off our local surface roads improving local amenity.”

The 9km twin tunnels will link the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the Hills M2 Motorway at West Pennant Hills, bypassing 21 sets of traffic lights.

The tunnel is set to open in the third quarter of 2020.
