NorthConnex Tunnel Opens

NorthConnex Tunnel

Motorists will be able to bypass 21 sets of traffic lights between the M1 and M2 motorways when NorthConnex opens to traffic tomorrow, completing a long-awaited ‘missing link’ in the National Highway network.

Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens SC MP said “NorthConnex is a $3 billion project which the NSW Government funded over $577 million”.

“By removing up to 5,000 trucks per day off Pennant Hills Road, where there is an average of one traffic incident each day, NorthConnex will boost road safety for our community”.

The twin nine kilometre tunnel will provide a smoother and faster journey, saving drivers up to 15 minutes in their morning and evening commutes.

“Pennant Hills Road has long been recognised as the worst Road in Australia. The NSW Liberal Government is building infrastructure that our great grandchildren will be using for generations to come”, Mr Henskens said.
