Outdoor Learning At West Pymble Receives A Boost

It was smiles all round at West Pymble Public School last Friday as work began on the eagerly awaited new outdoor learning environment.

Through the hard work of the School’s P&C and with the assistance of a NSW Government Community Building Partnership (CBP) Grant of over $46,000, the children will soon be enjoying a more interactive, safe and creative learning space.

The replacement of the failing lawn with durable, high quality synthetic grass surfacing is the first stage of a six-stage project. The School will also lay a concrete curb around the perimeter, erect a fence, install aluminium seating and plant native grasses and shrubs.

State Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens SC MP, praised Principal Bronwyn Wilson and outgoing P&C President Abby Denham-McQuillen and her team for working together to launch the project.

“Ms Wilson and the P&C are always looking for ways to improve the facilities at the School and to enhance the experience of the children and this will be an outstanding new resource,” Mr Henskens said.

“Physical play is a very important part of childhood – even more so as electronic device usage increases. I am delighted that the Government has been able to give this project a boost with a Community Building Partnership grant.”

In 2016, 10 projects in the Ku-ring-gai Electorate received grants under the CBP program totalling $200,000.  This is grassroots funding that directly benefits communities by helping to pay for much-needed infrastructure improvements to schools, local sports facilities, parks and clubs and for the procurement of capital equipment for charities, social groups and environmental associations.
