Plans for the Pymble Station Accessibility Upgrade which includes three station lifts have now been approved.

Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens SC MP, said “receiving planning approval for the upgrade at Pymble Station is great news so that major construction can commence this year”.

“I would like to thank everyone who provided feedback during the planning approval process so this much needed infrastructure can benefit our local community”.

“The upgrade will ensure anyone catching the train, including seniors, parents and carers with children in prams, travellers with luggage as well as people with a disability, can easily access all facilities at Pymble Station”, Mr Henskens said.

Benefits of the upgrade include:

  • three lifts to connect Pacific Highway, Grandview Street and the station platforms to the existing footbridge;
  • a new forecourt on the Pacific Highway side, connecting the existing footpath and bus stop to the new lift;
  • improvements to accessible parking bays and new Kiss and Ride near the Pacific Highway lift entrance;
  • improvements to amenities including a new family accessible toilet and a unisex ambulant toilet;
  • new handrails and treads on stairs where required; and
  • additional CCTV and lighting.

The Pymble Station Upgrade is being delivered by the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program (TAP), an initiative to deliver safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across NSW.
