Member for Ku-ring-gai Alister Henskens SC MP today praised a local Sydney Trains employee working at Pymble Station for outstanding customer service.

Mr Henskens said Customer Service Assistant, Mark Short, was awarded a Customer Service Excellence Award by Sydney Trains for going above and beyond the call of duty to help customers at the station.

“Encouraging more people to use public transport is a big priority for this government and customer friendly staff plays an important part in the process,” Mr Henskens said.

“As a regular train user for the past 20 years, I know how import it is for commuters to see a friendly face and receive great service at our local railway stations.

“I’d like to personally congratulate Mark on his efforts and on behalf of local public transport customers, I thank him for helping Pymble Station customers go about their journey more easily.”

Sydney Trains Customer Service Director George Stojkovski said Mark received a number of customer compliments for his exceptional customer service.

“Mark has brought enthusiasm to the job and a strong determination to leave customers with a great impression,” Mr Stojkovski said.

“He regularly goes above and beyond his duties and is always out on the platform at Pymble Station cleaning and helping customers.”

Among the customer compliments, Mark has received praise for being friendly and hardworking and for scrubbing away at brickwork to remove graffiti.

Mark Short, who is 54, said he liked the customer service aspect of his job.

“I really enjoy working at Pymble station and meeting the customers,” Mr Short said.

“I always try and make sure that the station looks its best and I like to make a difference.”
