Member for Ku-ring-gai Alister Henskens SC MP today encouraged Roseville College students to collect for people who are disadvantaged in The Salvation Army’s annual Red Shield Appeal Doorknock on Sunday 29 May 2016.

Mr Henskens visited Roseville College for Girls today and met with Deputy Principal, MrTim Watson, Mr Peter Mackay, Director of staff services and college students.

Major Bryce Davies of the Salvation Army presented at the school’s weekly assembly, motivating the Roseville College community to participate in this national initiative.

“Sydney’s North Shore is a wonderful place to grow up, and our kids are really lucky to have access to a wealth of opportunities and quality education,” says Mr Henskens.

“Sadly, many young people in Sydney and beyond are much less fortunate and struggle with issues like violence, homelessness and substance abuse.”

“The Salvation Army plays a critical role in supporting our homeless and disadvantaged young people through its annual Red Shield Appeal and initiatives like these give the local community the opportunity to really make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate.”

Mr Henskens said he was greatly impressed that so many Roseville College students had already committed to getting up early to door-knock on Sunday May 29.

“It makes me proud to belong to a community where our young people are enthusiastic and interested in making a difference to the lives of others who may not be as fortunate as they are,” said Mr Henskens.
