Waitara, Normanhurst, Pymble And Warrawee Station Lift Upgrades In Addition To Wahroonga

Waitara Station Upgrade Announcement

The State Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens, today announced 4 more local railway stations are to receive a lift upgrade.

Funded under the Transport Access Program, Waitara, Normanhurst, Pymble and Warrawee railway stations will receive lifts in addition to the previously announced Wahroonga railway station.

“A clear message that I received from the community is the importance of providing lifts in railway stations.”

“I have listened to the message loud and clear, especially from our seniors and young families.”

“After campaigning for more lifts in our local stations, I am delighted that planning is set to commence for accessibility upgrades at these stations,” Mr Henskens said.

“We are committed to making public transport accessible for customers with a disability, seniors or families using a pram,” Mr Henskens said

“The planned upgrades we are announcing today are about making as many stations accessible as soon as possible to improve the customer experience and comfort for those using the network.” Mr Henskens said

“We have invested more than $1.3 billion in the Transport Access Program since 2011. Since then, more than 450 projects have been delivered or are underway across the state, including accessibility upgrades at stations, better transport interchanges and upgrades to ferry wharves.” Mr Henskens said.

“This means that approximately 90 per cent of customer trips across the network are now accessible.” Mr Henskens said.

The Transport Access Program is a NSW Government initiative to deliver safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across the state.
