Students and teachers at Waitara Public School will benefit from a major upgrade that will provide new classrooms and facilities funded by the NSW Government.

Construction works will now go out to tender for the project, which will include 37 new classrooms, a new hall, canteen and administrative space.

The upgrade will mean the school can accommodate up to 1000 students to meet increased enrolment demand in the local area.

Member for Ku-ring-gai Alister Henskens welcomed the project reaching this important milestone.

“We want our children to have the best education possible, and this project will help deliver the top quality learning experience our children deserve,” Mr Henskens said.

“I’m pleased the NSW Government is delivering this important project for our community. This major project at Waitara Public School is in addition to the recent $3.2 million expenditure on the maintenance backlog in our local public schools and the eight new teaching spaces nearing completion at Killara Public School”

Education Minister Rob Stokes said the NSW Government was working hard to deliver the school facilities students and local communities need.

“This project will give students the resources they need to succeed in the 21st century,” Rob Stokes said.

The NSW Government is spending $4.2 billion over four years building 120 new or upgraded schools and $747 million on school maintenance. This is the biggest investment in public school infrastructure in the history of NSW.
