Journeys will be more reliable and less congested on the Pacific Highway between Turramurra and Wahroonga, because of works to widen the corridor beginning this month.  

State Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens SC MP said, “These works will improve congestion at the Pacific Highway intersection with Finlay, Fox Valley and Coonanbarra Roads and Redleaf Avenue”.

“The aim of the project is to ease congestion, improve traffic flow and travel times and boost safety for pedestrians and motorists. This is a big win for our community”, Mr Henskens said.

The works are a joint NSW and Federal government funded project. The Federal Government has assisted to fast-track 11 congestion hotspots around Sydney to stimulate the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Work is scheduled to start on Monday 12 October (originally 7 October) and will be carried out from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 8pm to 5am Sunday to Thursday, and 8am to 1pm on Saturday, and is expected to be completed by late 2022, weather permitting.

Transport for NSW will widen the western side of Pacific Highway, creating three continuous northbound lanes and adjust turning movements to and from the cross streets of the intersection.

The right turn lane from the Pacific Highway northbound onto Coonanbarra Road will be converted into the new northbound through lane.

An additional left turn lane from Redleaf Avenue onto the Pacific Highway southbound and a dedicated left turn lane from the Pacific Highway northbound onto Fox Valley Road will also be created.

The upgrade involves installing new traffic lights at the Pacific Highway and Redleaf Avenue intersection, including new pedestrian crossings on the northern and western sides.
