Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Ku-ring-gai—Minister for Skills and Training, Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, and Minister for Sport)—It is vital that young people are engaged in our political process. Parliamentary initiatives like the Parli-Flicks Short Film Award is invaluable in engaging young people by capturing their unique perspectives on our democracy. This year, secondary students across NSW were asked to create a film that answered the question, 'Parliament! Why do we need it?'. I am pleased that Ava Groves, a student in the Ku-ring-gai Electorate, was the overall winner this year. In her video, Ava made a nuanced case for why Parliament is not perfect, but an opportunity to give everyone a say in their democracy no matter who they are or where they are from. It was informative and enjoyable, and this fusion is a wonderful way to encourage young people to engage in the political process. Congratulations to Ava, her family, and the Parliamentary Communication, Education and Engagement Team. I wish Ava good luck in school and her future endeavours.
