Archbishop Anthony Randazzo

Pope Leo XIV and Archbishop Anthony Randazzo

Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Wahroonga) (17:21): The Wahroonga electorate has a very vibrant Roman Catholic community, including many outstanding Catholic schools. I have had the pleasure to meet on many occasions the Roman Catholic Bishop responsible for my electorate, Anthony Randazzo, whom I have found from the deep conversations we have shared to be a very intelligent man. I congratulate him on being appointed as an archbishop and his promotion to the Vatican as Prefect of the Dicastery for Legislative Texts. Archbishop Randazzo has legal qualifications including in canon law and will now have a role with worldwide significance, which is befitting his many talents including as an exceptional lawyer. Archbishop Randazzo will be heading the Vatican office responsible for promoting and safeguarding the application of canon law and the juridical integrity and coherence of the church's universal legal order. I am sure I am joined by all Roman Catholics in wishing the archbishop every success in this new role and in thanking him for everything he has done for our community, especially while Bishop of the Diocese of Broken Bay.
