Hornsby Village Hub

Two women talking

Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Ku-ring-gai—Minister for Skills and Training, Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, and Minister for Sport)—Social isolation is a daily reality faced by many older Australians. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be. Thanks to a coalescing of community organisations from the Police Citizens Youth Club to the Women’s Shed, the Hornsby Village Hub was launched on 22 March. A community-led initiative, the Hub aims to nurture and support a connected and compassionate community for seniors. A variety of workshops and social activities are available to members, helping them to forge new friendships and improve health and wellbeing. With free membership and an organisation run by and for participants, this is a welcome initiative for the Hornsby-Ku-ring-gai area. While the hub has different venues, some are in my electorate including the PCYC. Thank you to Mala Mehta OAM, Vice Chair of Women’s Shed Hornsby Ku-ring-gai, and all local organisations involved in the formation of this wonderful and vital project.
