Ku-ring-gai Electorate Australia Day Award Recipients

Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Ku-ring-gai—Minister for Skills and Training, and Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology) (16:30): Australia Day is a day to reflect on the remarkable qualities of our great nation. On this day we celebrate those who have made outstanding contributions to their community as well as our newest citizens. In my electorate there were seven recipients of Australia Day honours, including Dr Geoffrey Herkes, AM, from Pymble, for significant service to medicine as a neurologist, to medical research and to professional associations; Mrs Philippa Bloomfield, OAM, from Turramurra, for service to youth through Girl Guides; Mr Ian Frame, OAM, from South Turramurra, for service to the community through a range of organisations; Mrs Louise Mahoney, OAM, from Wahroonga, for service to the community through charitable organisations; Ms Lydia Sharpin, OAM, from Wahroonga, for service to the community through a range of organisations; Ms Sally Ruston, AM, from Wahroonga, for dedication and service to primary education and professional associations; and the late Mr David Timms, OAM, formerly of Turramurra, for service to the minerals sector. I congratulate each of them on their outstanding contributions to our nation, reflecting our greatest qualities and values.
