NSW Youth Parliament

NSW Youth Parliament

Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Wahroonga) (18:17): I recently met two inspiring young men who took part in the New South Wales Youth Parliament. Harry Burwood of Knox Grammar School represented the Wahroonga electorate and Patrick McCarthy of Gosford High School represented the Gosford electorate, even though he lives in the Wahroonga electorate. Both men are intelligent and driven. They spoke fondly of their time at Youth Parliament learning how to make policies and draft legislation. Harry is part of the Youth Committee at the Sydney Jewish Museum, an event manager at Youth 4 Difference and a sergeant in the Australian Army Cadets. He also volunteers at different organisations across the community. Patrick was a prefect at Normanhurst West Public School and is part of the leadership program at Gosford High School. He is a regular volunteer at Thornleigh Community Baptist Church and Thornleigh Baseball where he is currently captain of the under-19s team. Both young men show genuine enthusiasm and passion for politics. Their deep sense of volunteering is a fantastic starting point for their future careers. I wish Patrick and Harry good luck with their future endeavours.
