St Lucy's School

St Lucy's School

Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Wahroonga) (18:12): St Lucy's School was founded by the Dominican Sisters in 1938 in Homebush before moving in 1959 to Wahroonga, where it remains today. The amazing students at St Lucy's mostly have mild to severe intellectual challenges, autism spectrum disorder or sensory impairments, and are supported by incredible teachers and volunteers. I recently attended the official opening of St Lucy's new tiny home. The tiny home was donated by local business Granny Flat Solutions and Tiny Home Solutions under the Granny Flat Foundation. The tiny home at St Lucy's is a place where students can stay overnight, practise life skills and develop independence. I congratulate the whole team at Granny Flat Solutions and the leadership of St Lucy's for undertaking that important project and working together to deliver this resource for the students. We all want to see these students thrive, develop life skills and transition beyond formal education, which is where a wonderful resource like a tiny home is a great asset for the whole school community.
