Tribute to Ann O'Donovan

Balloon Hearts

Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Wahroonga) (16:02): I was very sad to hear of the recent passing of Ann O'Donovan, a long‑serving member of the Ku-ring-gai SES unit. Ann served in the SES for around 32 years in field operations, incident management and community engagement. She was recognised for her efforts and received multiple awards, including the National Medal, the SES State Medal and the SES Long Service Medal, as well as citations for major flood and bushfire emergencies. Only last year, Ann was awarded the Ku-ring-gai SES Flight Lieutenant Stuart Doyle Award for her outstanding contribution to the unit. For almost 20 years Ann was a senior member of the SES critical incident and peer support programs, most recently supporting SES members across New South Wales who have been impacted by natural disasters. Those at the Ku-ring-gai unit described her as calm, caring and willing to quietly get things done. I know Ann will be missed by all who served alongside her, and I extend my sincere condolences to her family and colleagues. Vale.
