Mr ALISTER HENSKENS ( Ku-ring-gai ) ( 13:19 :29 ): Today I acknowledge the bravery and tenacity of a young lady in my electorate. Indeed, such tenacity and strength of character will see her competing at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in Brazil. Tiffany Thomas-Kane, a 14-year-old from Killara, has earned her place in the Australian Paralympic Team courtesy of a world record setting performance in the 50 metres breaststroke at the recent Australian swimming championships at Adelaide. What is remarkable about this young lady is not only her swimming; unfortunately, she has not always been accepted by others as the person she is. Incidents have occurred to her which may have set her back in her goals. Tiffany has overcome those problems and her opposition in Rio has a lot to worry about. We wish you every success as you go for gold in Rio.
