Turramurra Fresh Produce And Gourmet Market

Berries

Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Ku-ring-gai) (16:12:23): The Turramurra Fresh Produce and Gourmet Market, which commenced in Karuah Park, Turramurra, in October 2017, is the latest venture for Jacqui and Peter Landis, who have been operating the 60-stall Lindfield lifestyle market out of the East Lindfield Community Hall since April 2015. Every Wednesday visitors to the Turramurra market can stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, seafood, cheese, gourmet and sweet treats, with coffee, breakfast and lunch options available, all while enjoying the pleasures of the park. Jacqui and Peter believe in the greatness of small business and the power of the small business owner, so they have set up a market for what they term the "passionate stallholder". They are doing it with their eyes firmly on sustainability.

Jacqui and Peter offer free fabric shopping bags, encourage the use of bamboo and corn starch food trays and arrange coffee discounts for visitors who bring their own reusable coffee cups. Because the market is close to Turramurra station, shoppers can leave their cars at home. So successful has the market been that recently it won both its category and the overall award at the Better Business Partnership awards, which are organised by the Ku-ring-gai, Willoughby and North Sydney councils. I commend Peter and Jacqui for bringing quality products and award-winning sustainability initiatives to Ku-ring-gai.
