Turramurra Memorial Park Upgrades

Turramurra Memorial Park building works on Pavilion

Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Ku-ring-gai—Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services)—I am pleased that major upgrades to the Pavilion at Turramurra Memorial Park are nearing completion. Turramurra Memorial Park is the home ground of the Ku-ring-gai Junior Cubs Rugby League and Old Barker Rugby Club, a Division 2 club with 1st and 2nd grade, Colts and Women's Seven teams in the NSW Rugby competition. The Park is also utilised for athletics and by countless community recreational users. Demand is growing, with an increasing number of people eager to participate in community sports as well as to engage in fitness activities. Upgrades to the Pavilion include a new canteen, scoreboard and storage areas. Moreover the addition of accessible and women's facilities will aid equitable participation for all. I have had the opportunity to speak to Karen Penrose, the Old Barker Rugby Club Inc president. She is excited about the upcoming opening. This project has been made possible by Old Barker Rugby Clubs' successful application under the Greater Sydney Sports Facilities Fund and I thank the Club members involved for their tireless commitment and hard work to achieve this wonderful outcome for our community.
