Wahroonga Electorate Schools
Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Wahroonga) (19:48): I frequently describe the schools in the Wahroonga electorate as educational powerhouses. I am delighted to share with the House that many of the schools in the Wahroonga electorate again performed exceptionally well in their 2025 HSC exams. Normanhurst Boys High School was ranked fifth; Hornsby Girls High School was ranked eighth; Abbotsleigh ranked eleventh; and Pymble Ladies' College ranked eighteenth in the State. Many students individually performed incredibly well, placing them above many other students. To be recognised as a top achiever in the HSC, students have to achieve one of New South Wales's highest places in an HSC course and also achieve a result in the highest band. To be an all-rounder, a student needs to have achieved a result in the highest band in 10 or more units or courses, and to be named a distinguished achiever, students have to achieve a mark of 90 or above in specific subjects.
This is an incredibly high bar, but the following students achieved that and more. Simon Greager from Barker College was recognised as a top achiever in the 2025 HSC exams for agriculture. He was also named a distinguished achiever in agriculture, chemistry, economics, English advanced, mathematics advanced and mathematics extension 1. Also from Barker College, Hamish Hudson was recognised as a top achiever in the 2025 HSC exams for software engineering. He was also named an all-rounder and distinguished achiever in English advanced, mathematics extension 1, mathematics extension 2, physics and software engineering. Brodie Thomas Shearer from Knox Grammar School was recognised as a top achiever in the 2025 HSC exams for design and technology. He was also named a distinguished achiever in biology, business studies, design and technology, English advanced and mathematics standard 2.
Joy Wang from Loreto Normanhurst was recognised as a top achiever in the 2025 HSC exams for drama. She was also named a distinguished achiever in ancient history, drama, English advanced and English extension 1. Emily Abadee from Pymble Ladies' College was recognised as a top achiever in the 2025 HSC exams for modern history. She was also named a distinguished achiever in English advanced, legal studies, modern history, French continuers and Italian beginners. Also from Pymble Ladies' College, Abby Christopher was recognised as a top achiever in the 2025 HSC exams for textiles and design. She was also named an all-rounder and distinguished achiever in biology, economics, English advanced, mathematics extension 1, mathematics advanced, and textiles and design.Alice Hynes from Hornsby Girls High School was recognised as a top achiever in the 2025 HSC exams for history extension. She was also named a distinguished achiever in economics, English advanced, English extension 1, English extension 2, modern history and history extension.

She was also named an all-rounder and distinguished achiever in English advanced, mathematics extension 1, mathematics extension 2, Chinese continuers, Chinese extension, Latin continuers and Latin extension. Also from Abbotsleigh, Skye Tian Yu was recognised as a top achiever in the 2025 HSC exams for Chinese in context and visual arts. She was also named an all-rounder and distinguished achiever in biology, English advanced, mathematics extension 1, mathematics advanced, visual arts and Chinese in context. These are but some of the outstanding HSC results achieved by schools in the Wahroonga electorate. I am sure that these students are all grateful for the support of their schools, their wonderful teachers, and families and friends. I wish them all the very best for life beyond the school gates. Once again, congratulations on these great results.
