Public schools in Ku-ring-gai have remained hives of activity over the summer holidays, with the tradespeople arriving to spruce up school grounds while students and teachers are on leave.

More than $1,780,000 will be spent on school projects in Ku-ring-gai that are running over the summer holiday period.

Projects at local schools include:

  • Ramps and toilet modifications, bollards and fencing, as well as roofing and painting, at Normanhurst Public School;
  • Safety fencing at Wahroonga Public School; and
  • Roofing works and an asphalt path, as well as vision indicators, at Warrawee Public School.

Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens SC MP, welcomed the investment in local schools in the Ku-ring-gai electorate.

“Every child deserves to have access to great facilities, wonderful teachers and an excellent education and that is what we are delivering for students here in Ku-ring-gai,” Mr Henskens said.

Education Minister, Rob Stokes, said this program is another example of how the Government is committed to public education and delivering local infrastructure to support communities right across NSW.

“Just like your family home, there are always jobs to be done to keep our schools in top condition,” Mr Stokes said.

“We carry out projects in our schools every day of the year, but we really ramp it up over summer to get schools in their best condition to start the new school year.

“Every single job, no matter how big or small, matters. Keeping our educational facilities in tip-top condition promotes a sense of pride in our schools and this improves teaching and learning.”

The summer holiday blitz is part of the NSW Government’s record $847 million school maintenance investment over the next four years.

The NSW Government is investing $6 billion over the next four years to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW, along with a record $500 million to provide air conditioning in schools. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
